I'm holding out for a hero...

And he's gotta be larger than life!

1/23/08 01:55 pm - Voodoo Moon

Somthing I wrote for a challenge on Yahoo Groups...

The night held a lot of mystery for her. The air always seemed to whisper as it blew through her hair. The voices were like songs, played by a thousand far off violins. The words spoken in that of ancient languages. And the meaning, she has yet to figure out.

Since she was four, such phenomenon’s happened regularly. When the blue moon was full, she would hear the wolf cry and knew they would be talking to her soon. And within the night, the voices were carried to her once again.

12/31/07 01:26 pm - Secrets

This is a clip I wrote for a series but made for a challenge.   It's made to stand alone but I suppose would make more sense with the whole story.

Adonia watched the group walk out. All of them were shaking, none perhaps as bad as Brant. She had known these people for years and by years she meant many more than she could remember. What she could remember was all their names – their birth names. All of them except Talon. That’s the only name they had ever been given for her.

Especially after this, the rumors would fly. There had been talk that she was a God, somehow stuck down on land instead of in heaven. It also went the other way, perhaps she was the devil. After all, they had seen her rip someone to shreds with claws well concealed. Or maybe she was a powerful sorceress; with all the god-like power and the devil-like anger, she could be a very powerful sorceress able to wield unimaginable powers.

Adonia sighed as she read the fear etched in many of their faces. She wasn’t scared. Well, not nearly as scared as the others. Brant had been asking for it for years now. Today he had crossed the line.

12/29/07 11:23 am - No name

Short story I wrote for the challenge number 22, a forbidden romance for the group wchallenge.

In a land far away at a time long ago, there lived two families who had grown together as kin. The parents were always best friends making the children as close as siblings.

There had always only been one child per family: the Erland’s always bearing a female and the Andra’s always bearing a male.

For thousands of years this was the way. The Erlands and the Andras grew together in status, in wealth and in love. Always the children came, a year apart: the Andra boy first followed by the Erland girl.

All was well in the world until one year the Erland’s bore twin girls. They were all in shock, looking at the children, both as different as could be. One was as beautiful and bright as day and so they called her Hemera. The other was as dark and spooky as night and so they called her Ratri. And as always the twins were born one year after the Andra male, Frick.

12/20/07 04:01 pm - Truth

Something minor I wrote for bodyandsoul100 with a character I made for one of the bigger stories I wrote/am writing.  It's a stand alone and can be understood without reading any of the parent story.  I named it truth simply because it's the prompt I used to write it.  I will consider it an out take when I finish the parent stories.

Truth

It’s said that you have one life to live. Mikah knew this was not the truth. She has four lives and she lives them all at once but separately. There was the simple life of Mikah Nadiv, orphan on the Kallai Grounds among her friends. It was an easy yet enthralling life, tormenting those around her with her very presence because she knew the secrets they so desperately strived to keep. She took far more joy in this than any normal person would but as far as she was concerned, they deserved the consequences because they refused to tell the truth.

12/19/07 03:47 pm - Rejected

“Our power is just the force of our love for our children and grandchildren.” –Barbara Weidner

The only source lighting the room was from the moon and the stars. The occupants lay nestled in their bed together as they do most nights, both wide awake but eyes contently closed; their breathing just starting to calm once again.

Her head lay in the crook of his neck, his fingers delicately tracing the length of her bare arm. A soft smile played on her lips. There was not a care in the world that could touch her as long as she lay in the comfort and safety of his strong, loving arms.

And though he felt much the same way, tonight his thoughts were troubled. His fingers still absently stroked her satin-soft skin, but his eyes lay upon the ceiling, his mind far-off somewhere.

A shiver from his lover drew his mind back as he turned his attention to the fiery red hair of his wife. He let out a simple sigh and kissed the back of her head. Pulling up the blanket to prevent another shiver, he whispered in her ear, “I love you, my lady.”

He could hear her smile through her ‘mmm’ before she answered, “And I, you, my lord husband.”

Iris by: Little Crea

“And I’d give up forever to tough you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow.”

“Azarath. Metrion. Zynthos. Azarath. Metrion. Zynthos. Azarath…”

Her enchanting voice repeating the same group of words over and over, was music to his ears. He watched her float a foot above the ground, majestically; gracefully; beautifully. Her soft hair fell peacefully down her cheeks. Her eyes shut lightly, hiding their radiant violet color. Her cloak fell almost to the ground, caressing her every curve, hidden or bare. Her pale skin called out to his hand. So badly did he want to hold her. He longed to feel her connecting with him, on another level than what they already had. His heart ached to know she never even noticed him.

There they occupied the common room of the Titan’s tower. Raven sat in front of the huge wall of window, facing the city, meditating. He, sat watching her from the couch, admiring her every move; or lack there of.

Of course she knew he was there. Raven always knew when someone was near. She felt their aura; their energy; their presence; their mind. Whether or not she knew he was watching, he was unaware. Either she knew and didn’t care, or she didn’t know. How could she not, though? It was part of her powers. The power that he so quietly admired… and silently admitted could outdo his own.

12/19/07 02:20 pm - New Character claim for bodyandsoul100

Name: Mikah Nadiv
Age: 15
Hair: Long white-blonde hair usually kept back in an elastic band
Eyes: Bright yellow
Height: 5 foot 2 inches on a good day
Weight: 123 lbs.
Species: Human
Personality: Mikah is very manipulative and only cares about benifiting herself. She has a signature smirk that constantly gives the impression she is up to no good, which most of the time the smirk does not lie.

12/17/07 09:04 pm - something old that was left on memory

"It's not that I dont, It's that I wont."

They sat across from each other at the table. She sat bored, twisting her blonde hair around her left forefinger. She looked in Zeke's direction but not fully at her. It seemed to Zeke that she was looking through her. The look sent chills down her spine.

"Wont what?" Zeke asked.

She gave a tired sigh and a slight roll of her eyes. "Be that person."

Zeke stared at her expressionless. She rarely made sense. "Dez, more specific please."

Dez said nothing for a long moment as she continued to stare off and twirl her hair. "Be the person everyone wants me to be. Of course I can, in most ways I am. But I wont do it."

There was a long pause. Zeke knew her friend had more on her mind than a little word game.

And eventually it all came out. "I can be that cute, shy girl they all expect. I've done it. I can be that always-happy-and-nothing-bothers-me girl. I was that too. I can be the mean, cold girl. I can do it all. The thing is, it attracts people to that specific attitude. I dont pretend to be something I'm not; I am all those things. But it all depends on my mood; the day; whos pissed me off. Do you know what I mean, Z?"

Dez finally looked at her fully. Zeke nodded. "I believe so. But what has brought this on?"

"They all have. Those are my options. I'm supposed to fit into one little clique. Be happy and stay there. I'm not supposed to wonder and associate more than necessary out of that circle. And God forbid if I'm seen talking to one of them. Its like... it's like.... nobody has anything better to do than make others around them the center of their world.

"I hear your voice and see your face and realized how far I've come from thinking you're the only one."

11/30/06 11:24 pm - DATE NIGHT

"READY FOR OUR DATE?"

"OUR FIVE MINUTE DATE." SHE SAID SLYLY WITH A SMIRK SHE KNEW HE COULDNT RESIST.

"IT MAY BE SHORT BUT YOU KNOW YOU LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT." AND HE GRINNED TOO.

SHE BLUSHED AND TURNED. "I'LL SEE YOU AT 8."

AS SHE RE-ENTERED HER OFFICE SHE COULD HEAR HIM BEHIND HER CALLING. "I LOVE BEING ABLE TO MAKE YOU RED SO EASILY."

SHE SHOOK HER HEAD. MEN. SHE WAS SURROUNDED BY THEM. AND MORE PARTICULARLY, GAFF, TAKING HER ON THEIR FIVE MINUTE DATES THREE NIGHTS A WEEK.

THE THOUGHT MADE HER CHUCKLE. AND THE CHUCKLE BROUGHT MORE CURIOUS EARS AND SMILES POKING THEIR HEADS IN THE DOORWAY.

"GOOD EVENING, HALO."

SHE SMILED. "EVENING, SIR."

HE RAISED A BROW. "SIR?" AND THEN CAME IN MAKING HIMSELF AT HOME IN THE CHAIR OPPOSITE HER.

SHE SAID NOTHING MORE. SHE ONLY SMILED. HE TALKED ON FOR A FEW MINUTES AND SHE LISTENED, BRIGHT EYED AND GRINNING.

HE STOOD. "GUESS I SHOULD GET BACK TO WORK."

"THANKS FOR ENTERTAINING ME. I ENJOYED THE COMPANY." HALO SAID BRIGHTLY.

HE WATCHED HER FOR A TIME LONGER. "YOU'RE AS CUTE AS CAN BE. YOU KNOW THAT?"

SHE REDENED ONLY SLIGHTLY THIS TIME. HE WAS A FLATERER. BUT SHE LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

AND HE LEFT.

THE LONGER SHE SAT STATIONARY, THE MORE ATTENTION SHE GOT. ZEKKI STOPPED IN FROM THE NEXT DEPTARTMENT OVER, COMMENTING NO HER SHINING HAIR. AND A CO-WORKER, TURIN, MADE SURE HE EXTENDED HIS NIGHTLY OFFER OF GOING OUT FOR A 'FRIENDLY' DRINK.

ALL THIS SHE LOOKED FORWARD TO NIGHT AFTER NIGHT, WORKING WITH THE SAME FACES DAY IN DAY OUT.

IT WASNT TOO MUCH LONGER BEFORE THE 8 O'CLOCK ANOUNCEMENT CAME OVER THE INTERCOM LETTING THE COMPANY KNOW THAT BUSINESS HOURS WERE OFFICIALLY OVER. HALO STOOD, GATHERED HER PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND HEADED OUT TO THE FRONT DESK.

HERE SHE STOPPED, GLANCED AROUND BRIEFLY FOR GAFF AND THEN HOPPED THE DESK TO GET TO THE PHONE. SHE HEARD IT RING BEHIND HER. SHE TURNED AS GAFF PICKED UP THE PHONE OPPOSITE HER. WHILE SMILING HE SAID, "HEY BABY. READY FOR YOUR RIDE?"

HALO COULD FEEL HER CHEEKS HEAT UP AND COULDNT HELP BUT LAUGH. "IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU ALL NIGHT. I EVEN BRUSHED MY TEETH FOR A LITTLE MAKE OUT ACTION."

HALO CONTINUED TO REDDEN MORE AND MORE AS SHE HUNG UP THE PHONE LAUGHING.

GAFF CHUCKLED TOO, HANGING UP HIS PHONE. HE OFFERED HER HIS ARM. "LETS GO MY LADY. YOUR CHARIOT AWAITS."

HALO LINKED HER ARM IN HIS AND HE ESCORTER HER THROUGHOUT THE DARKENED PARKING LOT TO HER CAR.

"SOME NIGHT," HALO STARTED OPENING HER DOOR. "ILL HAVE TO PARK FURTHER AWAY SO WE HAVE MORE TIME TOGETHER."

"I LOOK FORWARD TO IT."

SHE SLID IN AND SHUT HER DOOR. GAFF WAITED FOR HER TO START THE ENGINE BEFORE TURNING AND WALKING BACK TO THE BUILDING.
